Due to popular demand, Funky Chunk Jewelry has decided to resume facilitating Birthday Parties! Who are we to deny a little girl the bracelet making birthday party she has always desired. So, here is how it works:Because there are soooooo many beads it is getting harder and harder to transport them, all BUILD A BRACELET birthday paties will be at the Funky Chunk Jewelry Studio in S.E. Calgary. FAQ:Q - How long does a party last? A - It depends on the ages and amount of children but you should allow approx 60 - 90 minutesQ - What age is best?A - Age 6 and up is bestQ - Is there a minimum required?A - Yes, we need a minimum of 8 to open the studioQ - Birthday girl and guests equal 7, can mom make a bracelet to make up the minimum?A - Absolutely! Once mom sees the beads she wants to make one anyway so you may count mom in Q - What is the maximum number of kids I can bring to the studio?A - There is no maximum, we will accomodate as many as you can bring, but if it is a huge party, you should bring some helpers Q - Kaitlyn's little sister is 3 and wants to be involved in her big sisters party...can she make a bracelet too?A - Yes, as long as there is an adult with her at all times. Most times there is only 1 person facilitating the parties and she does not have enough eyes to watch everyone! We sure wouldn't want the younger kids to be swallowing and or stuffing beads into their noses and ears...so we need adults to watch them closelyQ - What kind of bracelets do they make? A - The bracelets are flexable with a nickel and lead free toggle (bar and circle) that is fitted to each childQ - Do boys think this is lame?A - Well, to be perfectly honest ...they do, at first. BUT, when they spot the black and white bone beads, the chunky silver beads, the camo beads and the beads made from antlers...lets just say they change their minds. AND FYI boys make the coolest bracelets..( I can't explain it!)Q - Will all the bracelets be the same?A - NO!! There are hundreds and hundreds of beads to choose from, we do not have premade "kits". We have a variety of beads aquired from our suppliers all over the world ... very few are bought locallyQ - How much does it cost?A - The price is $14.00 per bracelet, if 10 or more bracelets are made the price is $13.00 per bracelet.Q - Do you charge GST?A - GST is included in the above quoted priceQ - Are there any other cost?A - No, in fact each bracelet goes home in a black velvet bag and can potentialy eliminate the need for goodie bagsQ - What type of payment is accepted?A - we accept Cash, Visa, Mastercard, and cheques that have all your information on them (no temporary cheques that have your address hand written on them)

Jewelry connects people to their personality and style. Kathy Klassen grew up on a farm in Manitoba, Canada where nature and beauty was all around her. She remembers crafting and sewing at a young age. Fashion and Accessories was always an interest of Kathy’s, so it doesn't surprise people to find out that her passion is BLING. It all started with a heart shaped wire paperclip and a comment from an employee from a local bead store. It went something like this… "well, if you haven't worked with wire or a tool before it is pretty difficult to master”. Oh, IT'S ON!The materials primarily used in Funky Chunk Jewelry designs are Silver, Semi-Precious stones, Austrian Crystals, glass beads and vintage components. “I love to find vintage pieces and up-cycle them in some way. A brooch will become a focal point in a necklace or a big gaudy eighties clip on earring is transformed into the coolest ring…...you just never know”. The jewelry is handcrafted and designed with diversity. It is inspired, distinct, timeless, fashionable, and of course FUNKY.Recently “Old School” Kathy has emerged and the sewing machine has been working overtime. Java Handles, a stylish alternative to the cardboard sleeves used on disposable coffee cups have been a hit with the environmentally conscious. Wallets and card/change cases are also popular, especially with our furry friends! (no animal has been harmed in any way)Kathy’'s goal is to make people happy when they are wearing or gifting her pieces. Often, one will hear things like "Oh, this is totally my sister; she would love it"…... "this would be great for my teacher" or the best one yet is "Oh, I need one of these".
